A Theology of Stewardship
All that we have comes from the Lord. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to be good stewards of these gifts for the sake of the Kingdom of God here on earth.
At St. James, this means being fully engaged in worship, the regular study of Scripture and prayer to ground us in the faith and and connect us to others, and frequent opportunities to serve our neighbors. The best offering we can give to God is ourselves.
Our giving is a sign of our submission to the Lordship of Christ. Martin Luther once wrote, “There are three conversions necessary (for the Christian life): the conversion of the heart, the conversion of the mind, and the conversion of the purse.” At St. James we encourage this wholistic approach to discipleship, so that we can lean into the abundant life that God promises us.
Thank you for making a gift to support the mission and ministries of St. James. We praise God for the good work already begun in you that will be carried out through the church.
